Another great SOFER (and I have been to 6 of them); My one critisicm is that you held the ride in bike show at the same time as the ride outs; As volunteer road crew on a rideout I was effectively excluded from entering a bike that I spent two years preparing, which is unfair; This needs to be sorted in future so there is no clash, as I may not have been the only one; Otherwise thanks for a great weekend through great organisation; Derek

We do sympathise with your predicament Derek, particularly as I am aware of the emotional aspects of your bike build. Please rest assured that no aspect of our scheduling is decided carelessly or without due consideration by the rally committee. The fact is however that we have to operate under the triple constraints of space, time and safety plus the desire to provide a full range of entertainment for our guests during Saturday. We are not able to schedule major programme items like the bike show on Friday; many prospective entrants travelling on that day do not arrive until late, nor on Saturday at any other time due to the reasons cited above. We recognise that the scheduling on Saturday does require people to make a choice, and this is unfortunate, but I don't think it is unfair. Nevertheless we will re-visit the issue when we have our debrief meeting. I am not hopeful that we can find a solution however. I am pleased that you enjoyed the rally otherwise. Next year, why not have a word with your Chapter Director concerning any clash, I am sure that he will understand your dilemma. |
